Toolbar Significance

Saturday, December 29th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | Online Business, Traffic

In my last entry, I said you should download the Alexa Toolbar. If you didn’t do that yet, here’s where to get it: http://www.alexa.com/site/download

Why should you install it?

To put it simply, the more visitors coming to a website who have the Alexa Toolbar installed can actually increase the sites Alexa score.

But why is increasing a websites Alexa score important?

Good question…

It has been determined that a higher Alexa score is actually a positive ranking factor for the Google search engine.

With that said, it makes sense to do what you can to increase that score. Here are a few things you can do:

1. Get your readers to install the Alexa Toolbar

2. Implement a procedure in your intern program (if you have one) and get your interns to install the toolbar and visit your website.

I’ve done that in my own intern program. In fact, if you’re interested in following more of my procedures I use in this business, you can join my intern program by following the link to below:

My Rankings – Top 200

Friday, December 28th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | News, Online Business, Traffic

I just noticed that I’m now ranked in the top 200 on a list of ”Make Money Online” websites. At the moment I’m ranked #180.

You can see that here: http://www.45n5.com/top100/

What’s interesting is that some of my friends, colleagues, and customers are ranking higher than me on that list.

There are a number of techniques I can use to increase my rankings there.

I’d like to share some of them with you so you too can get up there on the list.

If you’d like to get your own ”make money online” site on that list, go to the link above, scroll down to the bottom, and send an e-mail to the address listed.

Next, head over to http://www.alexa.com/site/download and download the Alexa toolbar and come back and visit my blog.

I’ll go over a few more techniques in another entry.

Internet Business with Eee PC

Friday, December 28th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | News, Online Business

I just saw that James Brausch posted a link to this site: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/Skusearch.hmx?scriteria=BA24529

There you’ll see a nice laptop for $299. Small, portable, and easy to use. Not a bad computer if you run (or want to run) an internet business from anywhere.

If I hadn’t purchased a new laptop recently, I probably would have purchased a much smaller, more portable one like the Asus Eee PC. In fact, doing that would have saved me over $700!

If you’re going to run an internet business, that’s all you need… internet access.

Apparently the Eee PC 4g and Eee PC 8g (not the Surf models) come with a camera too! The possibilities…

Here’s a link to Asus: http://event.asus.com/eeepc/microsites/en/index.htm

2008

Monday, December 24th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | News, Online Business

A new year is just around the corner. Is it time to revise and make new resolutions?

Last year, I posted a few of my own resolutions on this blog.

They were:

  • Create at least five products
  • Create at least five content websites
  • Sell at least one website
  • Develop a workout routine for the gym
  • Leave television off (occasional movie is ok)

Posting my resolutions publicly on my blog was actually very beneficial. I’m sure it helped me accomplish some of them.

I did create over five products, started a routine at the gym, and have for the most part left the television off.

My little 13″ television is actually still sitting in the corner of this room, unplugged, with the manual and remote together. I posted an ad on Craigslist months ago…nobody wanted it. In fact, I saw a better one sitting outside on the sidewalk with a “free” sign on it. I guess mine goes to the trash!

Anyway, I accomplished quite a bit this year that I’m very proud of.

Last week was my birthday. My goal a few years ago was to retire before age 30. I think that’s too long from now. I made a newer goal not that long ago. It was to retire within 5 years. Well, I’m not 100% sure when I made that goal, but I’m 22 now, so I’m going to make the goal three years from now. That means my goal is to retire by the time I’m 25. Sound good? Now, to make it happen.

I would like to accomplish more next year. Here are my new resolutions:

  • Rent a house in a tropical destination for at least one month
  • Visit at least two more countries
  • Create more products which can be promoted by affiliates
  • Speak with/meet with at least five people who are making a $100k+/yr living working four hours a week
  • Automate more in my life
  • Implement a higher level of privacy to my life

I’ll go into further details of some of these in the coming weeks.

Online Business Guide?

Friday, December 21st, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | News, Online Business

I am thinking about putting together some sort of free ebook/guide type of thing.

I know of several internet business owners who give some sort of guide away in return for an e-mail sign-up.

Some of my readers are beginners, and would probably benefit having such a guide on starting an internet business.

But, I wouldn’t want to make a beginners only guide. I would like to include enough information so even those that already have an internet business, and are already on their feet, would be able to benefit from a guide as well.

Here is a quick list of some things that could be included in the guide:

  • What is an internet business?
  • Purchasing a domain
  • Buying website hosting (This is my affiliate link)
  • Creating a website
  • Market Research
  • Creating a product
  • Copywriting
  • Conversion
  • A few traffic procedures

A section on privacy, and systems could also be added.

So here’s my question:

What kind of information would you want to see in a guide? It doesn’t have to be something that is already listed above.

It could be internet business information you’ve been looking for recently, but has been difficult or impossible to find.

I’d like to see your comments!

Who won?

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | News, Online Business

First, let me start off this entry by apologizing…

I mean’t to write an entry yesterday announcing who won the (comment?) contest I started Friday.  I spent the day yesterday snowboarding and skiiing with family, and didn’t have access to the internet in the later part of the day, unfortunately.

On Friday, I asked “How do you stay motivated while working on your business?

So who won?

I really enjoyed Wayne Buckhanan’s comment the most. You can read it here: http://www.lifeloveandlearning.com/blog/116

Here are a few points he made:

- Relying on motivation is risky.

- Relying on any emotion to get things done is always a huge risk.

- Make the conscious decision to move towards a goal then turn that initial emotion into specific habits that lead to that goal.

- The bonus of setting specific outcomes based on performing actions in a habitual manner is the direct control over that outcome.

Wayne, you can choose one of my products in the sidebar on the right… then post a comment to this entry below letting me know which product you would like me to send you.

Everyone else… thanks for leaving your comments!

Are you motivated?

Friday, December 14th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | Online Business

How do you stay motivated while working on your business?

After a while, some people tend to burn out… and having that needed energy to work suddenly seems to have disappeared.

Have you had this problem?

If you have, what are some of your techniques you’ve used to solve this problem?

Leave a comment below. I’ll send someone something cool on Monday. I don’t have anything in mind at the moment, but I’ve got a few things around here just about anyone would appreciate as a little gift.

Ok, have a great weekend!

Uhg… Those Forums!

Friday, December 14th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | News, Online Business

I thought I would spend a few minutes and get a few ideas for some blog entry ideas for this site.

My first stop was visting a forum for no more than five minutes, until I realized how much I couldn’t stand reading any topic.

One forum was full of “internet marketer” types who were looking to rank higher in search engines by adding junk articles on their websites. I posted a bit of advice to try and lead them in the right direction, but knew it would only later be ripped apart by other internet marketer types who have been lied to in the past, and think they know the facts, because they’ve written 1536 posts, and have a website that ranks #1 for a search term which is searched for 185 times a month.

The other forum was full of fakes, liars, and other folks looking for the best way to “make money quick”.

A few years ago, I tried to listen to some of these types. Just hoping something would work… but the majority of the advice never got me anywhere.

I’m glad my blog isn’t flooded with those types trying to convince me otherwise.

If you’re still trapped in that little world of visiting junk forums every day, the best advice I’ve got for you is: stay out of them!

24 Hour Special: $20

Thursday, December 13th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | News, Online Business, Product

I have just finished creating my new video course on procedure creation.

Would you like to know how I create all of my business procedures? Well, oddly enough, there is a procedure you can follow to create a procedure! I’ve included more than just a simple procedure, otherwise the course would not have been long enough to make a product out of.

As you may know from my last blog entry, I promised the readers who left comments in a past entry would receive my next product as a reward. I sent out about 10 e-mails last night with the link to my Procedure Creation Course to those who commented.

Now I’m offering that course to everyone else.

For the next 24 hours, you can get access to the course for $20.

After 24 hours, I will not be offering this product again (at least not in the near future). This will not be a part of my list of other products.

That means, you have from now until 12pm noon PST on Friday to purchase the course.

Simply use the link below to pay:

You will be automatically transferred to the course once your payment has gone through.

Everybody Wins?

Monday, December 10th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | News, Online Business

Last Friday, I created a blog entry asking my readers what they would do if they had a 10 minute memory.  You can read that post here: http://www.aaronbrandon.com/?p=193

Nine readers left a comment, and I was blown away by all them!  All who commented knew that creating procedures would be the best solution if you only had a ten minute memory.  I moderated them all at the same time, so nobody just copied anothers idea.

There were two comments which I found to be best two. #1 by Robert Phillips, and #4 by Tyler. Both mentioned the use of others to help carry out those procedures. That makes sense. Would you even be able to finish the procedure yourself? In fact, I’ve solved that problem in my own business with the use of an intern program.

So, I don’t know who won… everybody? All had great information to share. My original prize was going to be the DVD “Memento” which happens to be a favorite of mine.  But since everyone left a great comment, I’ll have to do something bigger.

Here is what I’m going to do. I’m finishing up a new course.  I should have it all done by the end of this week at the very latest. Everyone who left a comment in the previous entry will have the first copies of my new course. I won’t say anything else about the new course here since it’s still in process of being put together. But, do expect a link to it in your inbox soon!

As for the DVD, I simply can’t tear it into two pieces, so I’ll have to make a decision about that soon!

A 10 Minute Memory?

Friday, December 7th, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | Online Business

Here’s something to think about during the weekend. There’s a reward for the best answers to the following questions.

What if you could only remember ten minutes of time? Meaning, you knew everything you know now, but then something happened. Now you can only remember ten minutes of time. (Short term memory loss). After a few minutes, your memories start fading away and after ten minutes time is up, what you knew ten minutes ago is now completely gone. In other words, you can’t make any new memories beyond ten minutes. So…

  • How would you get anything accomplished?
  • Do you think you’d be able to run an online business with this kind of condition?

I have a reward for the one who posts the best answers by Monday using a comment below.

48 Hour Special: $20

Monday, December 3rd, 2007 by Aaron Brandon | Conversion, News, Online Business, Product

After posting the initial test results from the multivariate test I’ve been running on my opt-in form , some readers expressed interest in learning how to run their own similar multivariate opt-in tests. I know many of my readers already own the software MuVar, or MuVar 2007 which is the software I’m using to run the test. However, most of those owners only know how to test a sales page.

I also know some of my readers also use Aweber as their autoresponder service. Though Aweber allows you to split test or A/B test your web forms, the amount you can customize is very minimal. So, to customize further, you need to use the HTML code they give you. The only problem with that is… they don’t provide you with the ability to split test if you do that!

My method solves that problem. I’m able to use any HTML opt-in form from Aweber (or any autoresponder) and test using MuVar.

Sounds easy enough, right? Just use MuVar to test an opt-in instead of a sales page…

It’s not!
Testing an opt-in form is different!

There are other variables which aren’t used in the common sales page. I’ve managed to figure out a way to use MuVar to test my opt-in forms. And, since some of you were interested, I went ahead and wrote out detailed instructions on how you can perform these tests too!

So…

For the next 48 hours, you can gain access to this how-to guide for just $20.

After the 48 hours is up… I will not be offering this special again (at least not in the near future). This will not be a part of my list of other products.

Why wait for a split test to improve your conversion ratio when you can just test everything at once? Don’t you want more subscribers?

All you need to do is click the link below. You’ll be sent to a page with a PayPal order button. After your order is complete, you’ll be forwarded to the guide.

Click Here To Get Access To The Course

You have from now until 12 noon PST Wednesday to gain access.
