Abandoned Blog… Or Publicity Stunt?
The other day I came across Richard Lee’s blog and saw a different theme than the usual. The title “Internet Business” still appeared at the top of the page, but the rest of the content was “lipsum” text, a common content placeholder among web designers, used to imitate the look of a page filled with content.
But, lately on his blog (before this change) he was frequently posting about his #1 rank for “internet business” on Google. Now this change? What’s going to happen now? His ranking will plummet from the #1 spot, and he’ll have to work his way back to the top… right? Well, honestly, I don’t know what will happen. At the moment, he has been able to maintain his #1 spot, even with this new theme… or blog, with no real content. Amazing.
What’s your take on this?
Is he doing this just to prove a point?
Has he abandoned his blog for good?

I believe he’s going to relaunch the site and try to maintain his Top 10 spot on Google without using any paid tools, advertisemnts, paid SEO programs, etc.
He had said he will just have the hosing and URL fees and practice what he’s preaching from this point on. To prove it can be done.
Not sure when the relaunch is but will keep you posted if I hear/see anything…
Cheers

Considering my own experience, I would guess that he is having technical difficulties caused by the major user-unfriendliness of WordPress. I am in throes of trying to recover a blog right now because I make the “mistake” of upgrading my theme. Should have known better.

No problems with his wordpress Matia. Micheal has pretty much nailed it. Richard is doing, among other things, some major SEO testing with the default template there as a place holder for his experimentation. I didn’t see “internet business” in the titles a couple days ago… hmmmm.

@ Aaron Correct as always: I’m just proving a point. Also… great posts title and excellent use of mild controversy! I like it!
@ Michael Hartman: your kinda’ right but off on one MAJOR aspect. I think certain paid tools are mandatory in this biz (Aaron please chime in with your opinion) however, I want to present business models for newbies that don’t include any required ongoing/monthly payments.

I’m not sure what mandatory paid tools you’re referring to. I’ve tested some online business models without any paid tools at all, and have profitted from using only one free source of traffic. ( I mentioned part of that model in my April newsletter.)
Though it’s possible, I would really only recommend the model if you:
1.) can’t afford to buy a domain and web hosting
2.) are trying to prove a point by not spending ANY money at all
3.) are seeking another source to drive traffic to your existing website.
Thanks for the comments.
