New Project
I want to start a new project. One that I’ve been putting off for some time now.
The project is to create a content site.
I would like to start creating a content site, but I want to record (using screen recordings) each step of the way so I can share my progress with all of my blog readers.
If you’re unsure what I’m talking about, a content site would consist of useful information about a certain topic, which would contain anything from: articles, forums, blogs, product reviews, resource directories, surveys, etc… The site would also be optimized to rank high for one of the three major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN). The goal would be to eventually push the traffic generated by the content site over to a sales site.
Would you like that?
I’m thinking about releasing one video at a time for a small price, then eventually put all the videos together and release them as a complete step-by-step course.
What do you think about that?
Leave a comment below. Let me know what you think.
Thanks!

I think that this would be a good seller. People are in a frenzy over blogs and content sites right now. logs are sellign for many times their monthly earnings, so now would be a great time to release such products.

Should read “Blogs are selling” apologies for the errors.

Hey Aaron.
That sounds like a great idea.
I’m personally all for step-by-step tutorials especially it it’s visual. Once you have them up and running I would like to sign up as an affiliate if you decide to go that route.
Good luck.

You might consider selling the finished site design. I’ve done that. In fact, one big company paid for 6 sites, I built them, then they got a call from headquarters to drop the project and do all promotional work in-house. I got “stuck” with 6 great mortgage websites that they had paid for. What a shame.

Could be interested Aaron. How about doing a demo/pilot session and talk price.

I know that Brausch recommends that you should have a content site and (a) separate product sales site(s). Why? Why can’t a content site have sales pages? If MuVar will not work on a subdirectory, then MuVar is deficient. You spent some time with Brausch in Costa Rica. Did he address anything nitty-gritty like that?

The point is to get a content site ranked high in the search engines for the purpose of generating traffic, then send that traffic to a sales page which is designed for the purpose of selling. He’s already answered that on his blog. If I look at my blog as a content site, yes, I sometimes do have a sales page on a sub page of this site which is designed to sell. You can do that. As for using MuVar in a sub directory, you can do that too. Just install it in a sub directory. It just requires a small change in the misc file.
$installDomain=”example.com/subfolder”;

Dave— Go read “a tale of two sites”…. Sales pages are for selling, thats it… if you put anything else on a sales page your going to distract people from buying. You don’t want that you only want them to buy on your sales page. Eric Graham made that point incredibly clear in his webinar.
Content sites are for providing content that people will find via search engines, links and so forth. You just put a link back to your sales page in a prominent place (like the home page) where curious people will find it and click on it.
You have MuVar and Munius/Relusi installed on tha back end of your sales pages right? Test this out by adding a variable which places links to the Munius articles right on the main sales page and see how that variable converts into sales.
