What’s In a Domain?
Considering that you can buy unregistered domain names for less than $10 dollars per year, how much are they really worth?
Just this morning, I listened to an NPR story about some of the latest high dollar domains that have been sold. Some people are still shocked when they hear about a domain being sold for $40,000, but that’s chump change considering some are sold for multiple millions of dollars.
Here’s the link to the NPR story: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=91054770
And then there’s James Brausch, who must be out of his mind…
He’s selling some great domains for just $500 a domain! There’s no doubt in my mind that most of them are worth far more than $500.00.

I have seen domain sales of over millions of dollars… I personally like to build my own domains from scratch and generally don’t think much about buying pre-existing domains to work off of what was already done… but there is a big market for this idea now

Don’t value a domain name just taking into account the key words it contains. See that the key word phrase of the domain name is a frequently searched phrase in the search engines and value according to competition the key words bring in.

hi aaron…although building my own domain would be a difficult one for me, i don’t think one would cost much..most of them, as i believe, were only copied, edited and re-posted.. people should be considerate on others, and not use them just so to earn a living. have a nice day.

“Last month, the name Gasprices.com sold for $300,000. What sells, why and who is buying them?”
So, a month later, and gasprices.com isn’t even in the TOP 30 on Google when you search for “gas prices” (without inverted commas)… The site itself is just a link directory. Hmm.
